Service Dog Training in Columbus

You can buy a service dog vest online, but it’s easy to tell which dogs are highly trained and earned the right to wear it. If you’re looking for service dog training in the Columbus area, Buckeye Dog Training now offers all the necessary instruction to get certified—and earn that vest!

Why do service dogs need specialized training?

Service dogs need training and certification to prove they are trained to perform the three critical steps of service dog training: basic obedience, public access, and task training. This ensures that the dog will remain calm and focused in even the most hectic situations. Because service dogs are allowed where most animals aren’t, their behavior must be a cut above the rest.

Service dogs can be trained to assist with physical, mental, and medical disabilities. Buckeye Dog Training does not train medical alert service dogs. However, we can train psychiatric service dogs and mobility support service dogs.

Please note: Mobility service dogs must be at least 40% of the owner’s height and 50% of the owner’s body weight.
